In Ovar, you will find some of the best beaches in the north of Portugal. When visiting this city, be sure to delight yourself with the typical gastronomy, in a variety of options inspired by the sea, the estuary and the countryside.

The city is known as the City Tile Museum. Visit this open-air museum walking through the streets of the city, explore the tile route. On the way, stop and taste the famous “Pão-de-Ló”, the typical sweet of Ovar.

Another strong point of our city is the Carnival, the Vitamin of Joy. The city lives this festive season to the fullest in all its splendour. Visit Ovar during Carnival and go to the streets to experience this revelry!

Oporto

40 km away to the north of Ovar is located the city of Oporto, which is the second most important city of Portugal. The main tourist attractions are the historical centre, the Ribeira district, wineries and its tasting and the Duero River. The city also offers a wide and excellent selection of restaurants where you can taste the typical Portuguese food.

Aveiro

42 km away to the south of Ovar is located the city of Aveiro, known mainly because its canals. Its three canals divide the city into two parts. The northern part of the main canal leads to the old houses of former fishermen and to at the south you can find the historical buildings of the city. Aveiro also stands out for its striking houses decorated with an Art Nouveau style. Do not forget to taste its typical desserts, called “ovos moles”.
