“PÃO-DE-LÓ” WORKSHOP

Ovar’s tradicional cake is the most famous regional sweet from Ovar. It’s made from egg yolks, sugar and some wheat flour. It comes in the shape of a breadcrumb topped by a very tasty brownish crust. This delicacy is extraordinarily cute, with a delicious odor that immediately permeates the taste glands and comes in a white linen wrapper, sometimes slightly crusted by oven temperature.

Goal:

Take participants to enjoy a sensory trip in which they will get to know the process of making Ovar’s sponge cake (Pão-de ló de Ovar).

Upon Arrival:

Brief introduction to the history of Ovar’s sponge cake (Pão-de-ló de Ovar), traditionally sweet

from Lent and Holy Week.

Presentation of the artisanal process of manufacture, as well as all the indispensable ingredients

Technical phase and manufacture

Practical demonstration of the sponge cake (Pão-de-ló de Ovar) recipe through the artisan

process, in which the participant is invited to participate.

Before leaving:

Tasting of sponge cake (Pão-de-Ló de Ovar) made by the participants, as well as presentation of

other locally produced sweets.
